چکیده

Abstract Sappan ( Caesalpinia sappan , L.) contains various antioxidant compounds such as brazilin and flavonoids that able to reduce superoxide anion radicals, hydroxyl free radicals chelate iron ions. This study aims obtain the activity of wood extract which is given adjuvantly substitution in blood serum overload model rats. The research method used experimental laboratory with a completely randomized design. test animals were 70 male rats aged 7 weeks weighing 200 grams divided into normal, negative control, comparison, group. adjuvant group at doses 50, 100, 150, mg/kgBW. subtitution administred percentages (25%, 50%, 75%, 100%) dose Data obtainedwere analyzed using one way ANOVA Duncan’s 95% confidence level. results showed administration sappanwood 50 mg/kg BW an (100%) by could provide better against iron-excessed rat serum. can be seen from decreased SOD, levels MDA increased GPX.
